1. Introduction

This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") sets out the rules governing the use of the Services provided by Protection Research Ltd ("Protection Research", "we", "our" or "us"). This Policy forms part of the contractual agreement between Protection Research and its Customers and should be read together with our:

Terms of Service;

Privacy Policy;

Cookie Policy;

Data Processing Agreement (where applicable); and

Website Terms of Use. By accessing or using the Services, you agree to comply with this Policy. Failure to comply may result in suspension or termination of access to the Services.

2. Purpose

  • The purpose of this Policy is to:
  • protect the security and availability of the Services
  • safeguard the interests of our Customers
  • promote lawful and responsible use of our Services
  • protect our intellectual property and confidential information; and

reduce the risk of fraud, abuse and cyber security incidents. This Policy applies equally to Customers and all Authorised Users accessing the Services on their behalf.

3. Scope

This Policy applies to all use of:

  • our websites
  • customer portals
  • subscription services
  • software applications

APIs (where available);

  • research publications
  • downloadable content
  • customer accounts
  • support services; and

any other services provided by Protection Research. Customers are responsible for ensuring that their Authorised Users comply with this Policy.

4. Permitted Use

Subject to the Terms of Service, Customers may use the Services solely for legitimate internal business purposes.

Permitted use includes:

  • accessing purchased subscription content
  • viewing and downloading research made available under the applicable Subscription

using the Services for internal research, governance, compliance and operational purposes related to business protection advice; sharing access only with authorised users where permitted by the applicable Subscription; and communicating with Protection Research regarding support, service delivery and account administration. Customers must use the Services responsibly, ethically and in accordance with all Applicable Laws.

5. Prohibited Activities

Customers and Authorised Users must not use the Services to:

Illegal Activities

  • violate any applicable law or regulation
  • commit fraud or deception
  • facilitate criminal activity

infringe the rights of others.

Security Misuse

  • You must not:
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Services
  • bypass authentication or security controls
  • probe, scan or test systems without written authorisation
  • interfere with network security
  • exploit vulnerabilities for unauthorised purposes
  • introduce malware, ransomware, spyware, viruses or other malicious code

interfere with the availability or integrity of the Services.

Misuse of Accounts

  • You must not:
  • share login credentials with unauthorised individuals
  • impersonate another person or organisation
  • create fraudulent accounts
  • use compromised accounts

allow unauthorised third parties to access your Subscription.

Misuse of Content

  • You must not:
  • reproduce substantial portions of our research except where expressly permitted
  • publish or redistribute subscription-only content
  • remove copyright notices or proprietary markings
  • create competing commercial research products using our Content
  • systematically scrape or harvest Content
  • use automated tools to extract Content without permission

use our Content to train, develop or improve artificial intelligence or machine learning models without our prior written consent.

Service Abuse

  • You must not:
  • overload or disrupt the Services
  • interfere with other users
  • attempt to circumvent subscription restrictions
  • reverse engineer software except where expressly permitted by law

use the Services in a manner likely to damage the reputation or security of Protection Research.

6. Security Requirements

Customers and Authorised Users are responsible for taking reasonable steps to protect the security of their Accounts and their use of the Services.

Customers must:

  • maintain the confidentiality of login credentials
  • use strong, unique passwords for Accounts
  • enable multi-factor authentication where available
  • promptly notify Protection Research of any suspected unauthorised access
  • ensure that only Authorised Users access the Services
  • maintain appropriate endpoint security on devices used to access the Services
  • keep operating systems, browsers and software reasonably up to date; and

comply with applicable information security policies within their organisation. Customers remain responsible for all activity carried out using their Accounts unless and until Protection Research has been notified of a confirmed or suspected compromise. Protection Research may implement additional security measures from time to time where reasonably necessary to protect the Services or comply with Applicable Law.

7. Monitoring and Enforcement

Protection Research may monitor the use of the Services where reasonably necessary to: maintain system security; investigate suspected misuse; detect fraud or malicious activity; enforce this Policy; comply with Applicable Law; or protect the rights, property or safety of Protection Research, its Customers or third parties. Monitoring will be carried out in accordance with Applicable Data Protection Law and our Privacy Policy. Where Protection Research reasonably believes that this Policy has been breached, we may, without prejudice to any other rights or remedies available: issue a warning; request that the Customer remedy the breach; temporarily suspend access to all or part of the Services; restrict specific functionality; remove or disable access to affected content where appropriate; terminate the Customer's Subscription in accordance with the Terms of Service; and report unlawful activity to the appropriate authorities where required or permitted by law. Protection Research will, where reasonably practicable, notify the Customer of enforcement action and provide an opportunity to remedy the issue where the breach is capable of being remedied. Nothing in this Policy limits Protection Research's right to take immediate action where necessary to protect the security, integrity or lawful operation of the Services.

8. Reporting Misuse

Customers are encouraged to report suspected misuse, security incidents or suspected breaches of this Policy as soon as reasonably practicable.

Examples include:

  • unauthorised access to Accounts
  • suspected credential compromise
  • attempts to exploit vulnerabilities
  • malicious software
  • fraudulent activity
  • misuse of subscription content; or

other behaviour that may threaten the security or integrity of the Services. Reports should include sufficient information to enable Protection Research to investigate the matter where reasonably possible.

9. Changes to this Policy

Protection Research may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time to reflect: changes in Applicable Law; developments in our industry and Services; improvements to the Services; operational requirements; or changes to industry standards and best practices. The latest version of this Policy will be published on our website together with the updated Effective Date. Where changes materially affect Customers' rights or obligations, Protection Research will provide reasonable notice before the revised Policy takes effect where practicable. Continued use of the Services after the revised Policy becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
